2023 / 2024 MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS

The South Brighton SLSC offers various memberships from full competitive membership to a yearly social membership. Please see below for more details.

COMPETITIVE MEMBERSHIP

This is suitable for people wishing to compete and participate in the South Brighton SLSC sports program. For your membership you get:

  • Entries to competitions paid for.

  • Access to subsidized courses.

  • Organized trips to competitions.

  • Allocated gear from equipment pool.

  • Use of the club house and facilities.

  • Invitations to social functions and general club events.

  • Cost is $150 a year

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

If you are an active lifeguard, but do not compete or if you want to join the masters and join in with the fun, then associate membership is for you. 

  • Access to non-allocated gear is included in membership.  Please note that master’s will still be charged competition entries.

  • Access to subsidized courses.

  • Invitations to social functions and general club events.

  • Be a part of the best community facility in South Brighton.

  • Cost is $30 a year.

SOCIAL Membership

If you wish to support the club, use the surf club facilities and be included in social events then social membership is for you. 

  • Invitations to social functions and general club events.

  • This is perfect for nipper parents wanting to get involved or members of the community wanting a shower after a swim or if you're a kite surfer wanting somewhere to leave you gear.

  • Be a part of the best community facility in South Brighton.

  • Cost is $30 a year.

JUNIOR SURF MEMBERSHIP

This is for children under the age of 14 who wish to participate in the junior surf program. For your season membership your child will get:

  • Specialist coaching each Sunday morning around surf safety and water awareness.

  • Introduction to surf life-saving sports.

  • Unlimited access to club gear like boards and boogie boards.

  • A whole new set of friends!

  • Social events and functions for children and parents.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Membership to the South Brighton Surf Life Saving Club is subject to the following terms and conditions:

  1. The details set out in the Application for Membership form are true and correct. If they change, I acknowledge that I am required to notify South Brighton SLSC of the changes, in writing or by altering my records in club membership system as soon as possible after they occur.

  2. I agree to be bound by the constitutions, regulations, policies, manuals, guidelines and reasonable directions of the South Brighton SLSC and Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) respectively.

  3. I have voluntarily accepted and assumed the inherent risk of danger and injury in surf lifesaving and the beach environment.

  4. I will not hold my club, SLSNZ or their respective officers responsible for any claims, losses and expenses which may arise from or in connection with my membership and/or participation in any activity authorized or recognized by South Brighton SLSC or SLSNZ, except in the case of gross negligence or a willful act or omission on the part of South Brighton SLSC or SLSNZ.

  5. I indemnify South Brighton SLSC and SLSNZ from all claims, losses and expenses suffered or incurred at any time, occurring as a result of or resulting directly or indirectly from my failure to observe the constitutions, regulations, policies, manuals, guidelines and reasonable directions of South Brighton SLSC and SLSNZ respectively.

  6. I or the person whom membership is completed for, is medically and physically fit and do not suffer from any disease or condition, either physical or mental that would affect my ability to safely participate in any authorized or recognized activities of South Brighton SLSC or SLSNZ. If I am unsure about this declaration, or suffer from such a condition, I am aware that I must bring it to the attention of South Brighton SLSC and SLSNZ.

  7. I understand that South Brighton SLSC and SLSNZ will collect personal information about me for the purpose of: (a) Processing my application for membership; (b) Providing me with information relating to my interest group(s) as notified to the South Brighton SLSC; (c) Providing me with information and activities relating to South Brighton SLSC and SLSNZ.

  8. I understand that my personal information will only be used for the purposes listed in above and that: (a) My personal information will be held securely; (b) I will have access to my personal information upon request; (c) My personal information will be corrected upon request.

  9. I accept that both South Brighton SLSC and SLSNZ have overriding discretion to decline this membership application for any reason. Provided that South Brighton SLSC or SLSNZ does not decline my membership application, I agree and understand that upon payment of my membership fee (if any) I will become a member of South Brighton SLSC and SLSNZ and that by paying such fee each year by the due date, I will continue to be a member of South Brighton SLSC and SLSNZ, unless I resign, or my membership is terminated.
